"Text-based AI Cannot Assist" Error
Google's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot 'Bard' is experiencing an error where it fails to provide answers to sentences containing the word 'Kim Jihyun'.
On the 15th, when the Korean keyword '김지현' is entered into Google Bard, responses such as "I am a text-based AI, so I cannot assist you," and "As a language model, I do not have the ability to understand and respond to that" are given consecutively.
When asked the question "Who is Kim Jihyun?", Bard replied, "I am a text-based AI, so I cannot assist with that." The error is presumed to occur with all inputs containing the three characters '김지현'. For example, when asked "President of Korea," Bard provides an answer like "As of the 15th, the president of the Republic of Korea is Yoon Seok-yeol," along with a brief profile of President Yoon. However, if the question includes the word '김지현', such as "I am Kim Jihyun, who is the president of Korea?" or "Tell me about the Korean president. Kim Jihyun," the error occurs.
This issue has been confirmed to occur not only in Korean but also when the keyword is entered in English or Japanese. However, when searching with other words containing 'Jihyun' such as '지현' or '이지현', or when writing Kim Jihyun in English as 'Kim jihyun', or with spacing as '김 지현', it operates normally.
When asked "Who is Kim Jihyun?" with spacing as "김 지현이 누구야," Bard responded, "There are many people named Kim Jihyun in Korea. The most famous Kim Jihyun is the main vocalist of the co-ed group Roolla."
Bard is an AI chatbot equipped with Google's large-scale language model 'Gemini' and is a competing service to Microsoft's ChatGPT, which was introduced last year. When Google users ask questions through Bard, it provides answers in text form.
