Annual Payment of 300,000 KRW for Elderly Basic Livelihood Recipients Born Before 1934... 185 Expected Recipients This Year, Apply Within One Month of Birthday at Local Community Center... Payments Continue Annually Until Suspension Reasons Arise... Expected to Promote Filial Piety Culture
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) provides a "Longevity Celebration Fund" of 300,000 KRW to basic livelihood security recipients aged 90 and above on their birthdays.
The district initiated this project to show respect to the elderly in an aging society and to wish them a healthy and happy later life.
The recipients are basic livelihood security recipients born before 1934 who have been registered residents of Gwangjin-gu for more than one year. This year, 185 people are expected (7 turning 100 years old, 178 aged 90 to 99).
Applications can be made at the local community service center. If the application form is submitted at least one month before the registered birth date, the celebration fund will be received at the end of the month of the birthday. Once applied, recipients can receive support annually until a reason for suspension occurs.
If it is difficult to visit in person due to health reasons, home visit services are provided. Proxy applications through a spouse or guardian are also possible.
District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We provide the longevity celebration fund to honor the elderly who possess life experience and wisdom,” and added, “We will promote various welfare projects so that the elderly can lead healthy and vibrant daily lives.”
