Firefighters belonging to the 119 Special Response Team of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters witnessed a traffic accident on their way home from work and rescued a person.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 15th, at around 9:30 a.m. that day, Fire Lieutenant Lee Young-seok, Fire Sergeant Cheon Young-min, and Firefighter Yoon Yong-ho, who were leaving after finishing their night shift, witnessed a traffic accident between a truck and a passenger car at the entrance of Yeongam1 Tunnel.
They confirmed a patient trapped inside the vehicle due to damage and unable to escape, stopped their vehicle on the shoulder, and carried out rescue activities. To prevent secondary accidents, they controlled traffic and cared for the rescue target until the ambulance arrived.
The rescued person was handed over to the Haksan Ambulance Team of Yeongam Fire Station that responded to the scene, and after safety measures were taken, they left the site.
Firefighter Lee Young-seok said, “As a firefighter working for the life and safety of the people, it was an action I naturally had to take, and I am really relieved that we were able to prevent a secondary accident.”
Park Yong-ju, head of the 119 Special Response Team, stated, “Seeing the special rescue team members actively take action to help citizens in crisis makes me feel great pride as a colleague.”
