Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it will hold the 21st Century Jangseong Academy by inviting Dr. Jeong Gyeong-woo, a metallurgical engineering expert, at 4 p.m. on the 18th at the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center Small Theater.
Dr. Jeong Gyeong-woo, who earned his master's and doctoral degrees in metallurgical engineering from Yonsei University, is currently serving as the Director of the Resource Utilization Research Division at the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources.
He is also active as the Policy Director of the Korean Society of Resource Recycling, and his publications include the "2014 Recycling White Paper."
In this academy session, Dr. Jeong will introduce minerals emerging as future resources and discuss strategies for South Korea, which depends on imports for 95% of its minerals, to overcome its weaknesses and take a leap forward.
The "21st Century Jangseong Academy," a social education program holding the world’s longest operation record, is held every first and third Thursday of the month and is loved for its informative lectures and captivating pre-performance shows.
This week, a dazzling and fantastic magic show will be held before the lecture.
Admission is free without prior registration, and the lecture will be broadcast live on Jangseong-gun’s YouTube channel, allowing real-time viewing.
Lecture videos can be rewatched on the website and YouTube only for lectures that have agreed to share materials.
