Integrated Support through 'Bodeum Project' for Single-Person Households and Multicultural Families Starting This Year

Provision of 7 Service Types by Family Form Until Last Year

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 16th that family services, which were previously operated separately for single-person households, multicultural families, and others, will be integrated into the 'On-Gajok-Bodeum Project' starting this year.

Until last year, family services were provided separately according to family types such as single-person households, multicultural families, and adolescent single parents. These services included family counseling, vulnerable family case management, multicultural family case management, counseling, education, and self-help groups by life cycle for single-person households, adolescent single parent case management, improvement of relationships between neglected (protected) children and their original families, and visitation and contact between non-custodial parents and children for child support enforcement, totaling seven services.

The Ministry integrated the existing family services into the 'On-Gajok-Bodeum Project' to identify necessary services through counseling regardless of family type and to provide services suitable for each family's situation.

Accordingly, family centers that were previously unable to operate some targeted services will now be able to support integrated services, which is expected to reduce regional disparities in service availability. The On-Gajok-Bodeum Project will be supported at 220 family centers nationwide.

Any family member wishing to receive integrated service support can visit city, county, or district family centers to apply for various family services such as emergency care for single-person households, hospital accompaniment, caregiving education for grandparents caring for grandchildren, and family relationship improvement programs.

Additionally, the Ministry plans to strengthen connections between family centers, administrative welfare centers, the National Secretary, and the social security system to identify and support families in need at an early stage.
