Kim Myung-jin, a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Seo-gu (Gap), Gwangju Metropolitan City, sent a message of support regarding the decision of Kang Wi-won, the chief political advisor to the leader of the Democratic Party, to withdraw from the general election.
On the 15th, Candidate Kim issued a statement titled "Position on the Withdrawal of the Verification Request for Chief Advisor Kang Wi-won," saying, "This is not the end but a new beginning."
He said, "(Chief Advisor Kang Wi-won) may now return to the soil as fertilizer, but Kang Wi-won's dream of community welfare will become a flower and eventually bear fruit," adding, "I know better than anyone else about Kang's consistent life dedicated to the community since his high school days, so I feel regretful and saddened."
He continued, "Please look at his entire life, not just a momentary mistake," and emphasized, "Please also evaluate his passionate love for the people and the community."
He also said, "The late President Kim Dae-jung, whom Chief Advisor Kang respects, ultimately triumphed over countless hardships and adversities," and added, "We will encourage and accompany Chief Advisor Kang as he embarks on his journey again."
He concluded, "Together with Kang Wi-won and by supporting Leader Lee Jae-myung, we will surely achieve the ruling of the Democratic Peace Reform forces in 2027."
