Ryu Ho-jeong Leaves Party... "Justice Party Is Becoming a Secondary Force of the Democratic Party"

Third Zone New Party 'Joins'... Likely to Collaborate with Geum Tae-seop's Side
Criticism of Election Alliance... "Will Become a Satellite Party Led by the Democratic Party"
Yong Hye-in Proposes a Moderate Progressive Reform Alliance New Party to the Democratic Party

Ryu Ho-jeong, a Justice Party lawmaker who joined the third zone new party forces, has announced her resignation from the party. Movements to promote an electoral coalition party are gaining momentum within the progressive camp, including the Justice Party.

On the morning of the 15th, Ryu held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and stated, "The Justice Party is once again heading down the path of being the 'Democratic Party's second squad,'" adding, "I will leave the Justice Party and resign from my parliamentary seat." She became a member of the National Assembly as the number one proportional representative candidate of the Justice Party in the last general election. She plans to coordinate the timing so that the Justice Party can succeed the proportional seat and proceed with the resignation process around next week.

Originally, Ryu planned to remain in the party and expand the new party forces within it while serving as the 'co-representative of the third power' in the third zone. However, it appears she decided to resign after the Justice Party began promoting an electoral coalition party with the Green Party. Initially, it was expected that the 'four progressive parties' including the Progressive Party and the Labor Party would unite, but due to differences among the other parties, the Justice Party and the Green Party chose to form an alliance first.

Ryu criticized, "(The Justice Party) declared a minimum coalition of activist groups, but soon it will participate in a proportional satellite party led by the Democratic Party along with the Jo Guk new party, the Reform Coalition new party, and the Progressive Party," adding, "Behind the scenes, lawmaker Shim Sang-jung will deceive party members and citizens until the end, but this is actually being discussed within the leadership, and a clear trend can be observed from the emergency committee chairperson's interview."

Ryu announced plans to continue her active role in the third zone. She is expected to join the side of Geum Tae-seop, co-representative of the New Choice party, who is currently aligned in the third zone. She emphasized, "Parliamentarian Ryu Ho-jeong stops here, but Ryu Ho-jeong's politics are not over," adding, "I will create a new option in the third zone and ultimately become the third power after industrialization and democratization."

Meanwhile, Yong Hye-in, the standing representative of the Basic Income Party, held a press conference on the same day and proposed the idea of a 'Reform Coalition New Party' to the Democratic Party. Based on the fundamental principles of 'judging the Yoon Seok-youl administration' and 'progressive regime change,' the Basic Income Party, Open Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party (preparatory) aim to promote a joint proportional coalition party for the democratic progressive camp.

Yong, who entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative of the 'Together Citizens Party,' a satellite party of the Democratic Party in the last general election, is also mentioned as possibly allying with the camp of former Justice Minister Cho Guk, who recently launched a think tank. After the press conference, she told reporters that there was no 'prior discussion,' but said, "This is a proposal to everyone who wants to contribute even a small stone to stop the Yoon Seok-youl government, like former Minister Cho."
