The movie 'Alien+In' Part 2 attracted only 640,000 viewers in its opening week. This is fewer than the number of viewers for Part 1, which was released last year and was a box office failure. It had a disappointing start, drawing 480,000 viewers over the first weekend.

On the 15th, the Korean Film Council's integrated box office system reported that the movie 'Alien+In' Part 2 (directed by Choi Dong-hoon) ranked first at the box office by attracting 482,800 viewers over the three-day weekend (12th?14th). Since its release on the 10th, the cumulative audience reached 648,687.

The film depicts a fierce battle for a sacred talisman spanning the Goryeo Dynasty over 630 years ago and the modern year 2022. It tells the story of humans and Taoist priests trying to save everyone by traveling to the future. Directed by Choi Dong-hoon, who helmed the 10-million viewer films 'Assassination' (2015) and 'The Thieves' (2012), it stars actors Kim Tae-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, and Kim Woo-bin.

'Alien+In' Parts 1 and 2 were produced simultaneously with budgets of 36 billion KRW and 34 billion KRW, respectively. The break-even point (BEP) for Part 2 is in the low 7 million viewer range. To expect some level of box office success, it needs to surpass 1 million viewers in the first weekend.

However, 'Alien+In' Part 2 drew only about 90,000 viewers on its opening day, the 10th. This figure did not even surpass the opening score of Part 1, which was a box office failure last year with 158,155 viewers. Adding 480,000 viewers over the first weekend, the total reached 640,000. This is far below the 910,000 viewers Part 1 attracted during the same period, showing a lack of momentum. As of 9:30 a.m. on the 15th, real-time ticket reservations for 'Alien+In' Part 2 stood at only 28,584 viewers.

Last weekend, Disney's 100th anniversary animated film 'Wish' attracted 213,566 viewers, ranking second. Its cumulative audience reached 994,064. 'Spring in Seoul' (directed by Kim Sung-soo), which became the second Korean film last year to surpass 10 million viewers, drew 134,647 viewers and ranked third. The film showed strong staying power, reaching a cumulative audience of 12,781,737.

'Noryang: Sea of Death' (directed by Kim Han-min), the final story in the Admiral Yi Sun-sin trilogy, attracted 121,252 viewers and remained in fourth place. Since its release on the 20th of last month, it has accumulated 4,387,738 viewers. Ranked fifth to eighth were 'Into the World,' 'Shin Dimension! Crayon Shin-chan The Movie: Superpower Showdown ~Fly, Handmade Kimbap~,' 'Kim Dae-jung on the Road,' and 'The Host,' respectively.

The total number of moviegoers visiting theaters over the weekend was recorded at 1,216,745.
