HanmiGlobal Wins PM Service Contract for 'Bucheon Cogeneration Power Plant Modernization Project'

The Bucheon Combined Heat and Power Plant is one of the first-generation new town combined heat and power plants and a large LNG (liquefied natural gas) combined power plant supplying district heating to the Jungdong New Town. As the design life of 30 years has been reached, a modernization project is being promoted to replace the aging energy infrastructure with an eco-friendly, high-efficiency, low-carbon energy production facility. Upon completion of the project, the power generation capacity of the Bucheon Combined Heat and Power Plant will increase from the current 450 MW scale to 1,000 MW, equivalent to one nuclear power plant. It will be transformed into a high-efficiency eco-friendly power plant that minimizes emissions of pollutants such as greenhouse gases and fine dust.

HanmiGlobal plans to perform responsibility supervision during the construction phase and overall construction project management and technical consulting PM services for the Bucheon Combined Heat and Power Plant, which will be built in two phases with a total capacity of 500 MW to ensure uninterrupted district heating supply until January 2030.

HanmiGlobal has carried out PM for domestic and overseas power plant construction projects such as the Papua New Guinea diesel power plant in 2017, the Iraq Kabat thermal power plant in 2021, and the Goseong High thermal power plant in 2022. It also owns Ecocean, a subsidiary specializing in eco-friendly energy consulting, giving it strong competitiveness in the energy infrastructure sector.

Park Byung-kyu, Executive Director and Head of the Energy Infrastructure Team at HanmiGlobal, said, "For power plants near the first-generation new towns, it has been 30 years since their establishment, and construction demand is expected to expand with modernization projects and new expansions in the future. Based on the know-how and expertise we have accumulated so far, we will continue to create achievements in the energy infrastructure sector in the carbon-neutral era."
