Ministry of SMEs and Startups Holds 'Super-Gap Startup IR' Event in Silicon Valley, USA
In Silicon Valley, USA, South Korea's 'Chogyeokcha Startups' stood before global investors. Starting with an IR (Investor Relations) event, the plan is to lay the groundwork for growth into global unicorns in new industry sectors such as system semiconductors, future mobility, and robotics.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that from the 14th to the 16th (local time), it will hold the 'Chogyeokcha Startup IR' event in Silicon Valley, USA, to support the global expansion of Chogyeokcha Startups. Chogyeokcha Startups refer to new industry startups with unique technological capabilities worthy of entering the global market. Twenty Chogyeokcha Startups from five new industry sectors hoping to enter the global market participated in this event. Among them, 11 companies, including MetisX, a startup in the system semiconductor sector, participated in 'CES 2024,' the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA. Microsystems and Aiol Korea received the highest honor at CES, the Innovation Award.
At this event, more than 30 global corporations, venture capitalists (VCs), and corporate venture capitals (CVCs), including AWS, networked with domestic Chogyeokcha Startups. Starting with a keynote speech by Christopher Bunn, CEO of Simbal Capital Group, on the 14th, there was also a 'reverse pitching' session where global corporations and investment institutions proposed investments to startups. This was followed by panel discussions and startup IR presentations.
On the 15th, to reduce trial and error and help Chogyeokcha Startups settle locally during global expansion, legal and tax education was provided by experts such as international lawyers. Lectures on investment trends and the environment in Silicon Valley were also conducted. On the 16th, visits were made to global VC SOSV and Applied Materials, the world's number one semiconductor equipment company, to hear about corporate investment directions and hold private IR sessions.
Park Yong-soon, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "To fully accelerate the global expansion of Chogyeokcha Startups this year, we plan to intensively support global policies such as global certification support and building collaboration systems with global leading companies." He added, "We hope this IR event will lead to actual global investment attraction and become a stepping stone for Chogyeokcha Startups to grow into global unicorns."
