Forming a Large Delegation with 43 Local Companies
Full Effort to Attract 20 Trillion Won Investment in the 8th Elected Term
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun visited the CES 2024 event held in Las Vegas, USA, to attract 20 trillion won in investment, a pledge made during the 8th term of the elected government.
CES 2024, held from the 9th to the 12th, is the world's largest comprehensive IT exhibition where the latest future technologies from around the world can be seen in one place, with key themes including future mobility, smart homes, digital health, sustainability, robotics, generative AI, food tech, metaverse, and blockchain. This year, over 4,000 companies from around the world participated.

Hwaseong, which sent its first delegation last year, dispatched a delegation of about 70 people this year, including five companies participating in the joint pavilion, 43 promising export companies from the city, the Hwaseong Export Support Center, and the Hwaseong Industry Promotion Agency.
On the first day of the visit, the 9th, Mayor Jeong held a preliminary meeting with Joe Chen, Mayor of Torrance, California, USA, with whom a friendship agreement was signed last year, as well as with businesspeople. At this meeting, Mayor Jeong said, "Hwaseong is a global hub for the semiconductor and mobility industries, with numerous related companies conducting business activities," and added, "I hope the friendship with Torrance will be further strengthened through economic exchanges."
On the 10th, he visited booths of Hwaseong participating companies, including electronic component company Patron, cataract surgery instrument manufacturer TI, which won an innovation award, and remanufactured EV battery service company FourN. He said, "Participation in CES will be a stepping stone for companies to enter advanced overseas markets," and added, "The city will also support companies to become a central city of future industries."
Mayor Jeong and his delegation visited exhibition halls of Netflix, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, and LG Innotek, and also held export consultations with local buyers.
Meanwhile, Hwaseong City, which set a goal of attracting 20 trillion won in investment during the 8th term of the elected government, has so far recorded investment attraction achievements totaling 7.5261 trillion won, including Kia Autoland Hwaseong EV-only plant, Samsung Electronics HPC Center, and Dutch semiconductor companies ASML and ASM.
