According to industry sources on the 13th, LG Electronics has established and opened its first EV charger production plant in Fort Worth, Texas.

The LG Electronics Texas plant spans 5,500 square meters and can produce over 10,000 chargers annually. It serves as a production hub targeting the North American market. LG Electronics plans to sell chargers made at this plant in cooperation with local charging station operators.

Texas, a region with developed industries such as automotive and finance, boasts excellent logistics and transportation infrastructure.

LG Electronics intends to use this new plant as a foothold to actively target the growing demand for EV chargers in the North American market and expand its EV charging business globally to markets in Asia, Europe, and beyond.

The 11-kilowatt (kW) slow charger produced at the Texas plant allows flexible space utilization, such as wall mounting or standing placement. It is also equipped with a load management solution that automatically controls output according to power conditions.

Recently, LG Electronics obtained the 'UL2594' certification, the EV supply equipment standard from the global safety certification body UL, as well as the 'ENERGY STAR' certification, a trusted energy and performance standard from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

LG Electronics plans to expand production within this year to include 175 kW fast chargers and 350 kW ultra-fast chargers, starting with the production of 175 kW fast chargers supporting both CCS1 and NACS, the representative EV charging methods, in the first half of this year.

The company aims to strengthen its fast charger lineup suitable for commercial use and long-distance travel to meet diverse customer needs and enhance product competitiveness.

Based on the sales network established through its B2B business in the U.S., including hotel TVs and digital signage, LG Electronics plans to target various EV charging infrastructure demands such as hotels, shopping malls, retail stores, highway charging stations, and garages.

Jang Ik-hwan, head of LG Electronics' Business Solutions (BS) division, said, "With the establishment of this EV charger production base, we will actively respond to the rapidly growing U.S. EV infrastructure demand. We will present the optimal charging solution combining chargers with stable quality and advanced control solutions."
