Members of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council attended a memorial ceremony at the Hwajeong-dong I-Park collapse disaster site on the 11th.
The council members stated, "We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families enduring the painful time of losing their precious loved ones, and we will do our utmost to create a safer world by reaffirming the importance of safety."
Currently, the building 201, where six victims lost their lives during the disaster, has undergone dismantling work with 9 out of 39 floors dismantled, and approximately 23% of the entire complex demolition is in progress.
Earlier, the Seo-gu Council proposed urging full demolition and reconstruction in July last year regarding the partial demolition related to the Hwajeong I-Park collapse accident. A Safety Construction TF team was also formed, which visited demolition sites and construction experts to hear about the demolition work status and monitored safety matters by visiting the control center.
