Park Yong-chan: "Park Min-sik, Stop Saying 'Party's Request' and Let's Compete Fairly"

Park Yong-chan, the People Power Party’s Yeongdeungpo-eul district committee chairman, urged former Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Min-sik on the 11th to "stop using the baseless phrase ‘at the party’s request’ and compete fairly in the primary election."

On the same day, Park Yong-chan expressed his welcome for Park Min-sik’s challenge in the Yeongdeungpo-eul constituency through social media (SNS). Regarding Park Min-sik’s claim of running in a "difficult district," he criticized it as "a cunning framing to justify the repeated ‘changing of constituencies,’ which has even drawn unfavorable views."

Park Yong-chan, a former MBC reporter, said, "The Yeongdeungpo-eul area is like my hometown where I have lived for half a century, 50 years," adding, "The past five years as the district committee chairman have been the most dedicated period of my life. I have worked diligently almost every day without rest to rebuild the collapsed party organization and resolve local issues."

In this regard, he challenged former Minister Park by saying, "Let’s compete through a fair primary to see who is the more competitive candidate," and urged, "Let’s directly ask the residents of Yeongdeungpo and party members who is the prepared candidate to set this country right, rebuild Yeongdeungpo, and who is the capable candidate to defeat the Democratic Party’s nominee."

He emphasized, "For a winning election, a well-received nomination is essential, and the only solution for this is a fair primary," urging, "Let’s show a beautiful scene where the defeated candidate gracefully accepts the results and the victorious candidate offers warm consolation through a fair primary."

Meanwhile, former Minister Park officially registered as a preliminary candidate for Yeongdeungpo-eul on the same day. After registering, Park stated on SNS, "I have registered as a preliminary candidate for the general election in Yeongdeungpo-eul," expressing his determination, "Now, I will reposition Yeongdeungpo as the center of Seoul once again."
