Cold wave triggers 'Call'... Ilgwang Anshim Call service checks on vulnerable groups in Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan

"Ansim Call? It’s not a call taxi! It’s a guardian angel protecting the elderly from the cold."

The Ilgwang-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun, Busan (Eupjang Jo Woo-jin) activated an emergency alert as the cold wave warning level was raised to the ‘caution’ stage.

Gijang-gun announced on the 11th that it will officially implement the ‘Ilgwang Ansim Call,’ a welfare check service for vulnerable groups during cold waves, this year.

The Ilgwang Ansim Call is a project that makes welfare calls to low-income vulnerable groups in the area to check on their health status and safety.

In particular, during winter cold waves, vulnerable groups such as the elderly and chronic patients with low climate change adaptability may experience an increased incidence of illness. Therefore, Ilgwang-eup will focus on promoting the ‘Ilgwang Ansim Call’ from January to February this year to proactively respond to cold wave damage.

The project targets about 500 vulnerable households, confirming the health status and safety of the recipients through phone consultations while providing guidelines on national action measures to prepare for winter cold waves. Additionally, for households with poor housing conditions, direct visits will be made to deliver heating supplies such as blankets and hot packs.

Jo Woo-jin, the head of Ilgwang-eup, said, “As the cold wave continues and the difficulties of vulnerable groups increase, we will do our best to prevent safety accidents and help them have a warm winter.”
