Handonghun Emergency Committee Chairman Sparks Buzz with Jagalchi Market Fashion
Also Tops Real-Time Rankings on Fashion Platform
On the 10th, Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, who visited Busan, attracted attention again for his fashion. That evening, Chairman Han visited Jagalchi Market dressed casually in a gray sweatshirt and gray coat, enjoying dinner, with the '1992' printed on his top catching the eye. The product ranked first in real-time rankings on a fashion platform.
Taking off the coat reveals '1992'... Targeting Busan's public sentiment
Chairman Han visited Busan for a 1-night, 2-day schedule, meeting citizens at locations such as Nampo-dong and the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Square. Amid crowds gathered at the BIFF Square intersection, he was seen eating seed hotteok and taking selfies with supporters. Later in the evening, he dined with People Power Party members of the Busan local assembly at Jagalchi Market, enjoying dishes like yellowtail sashimi, spicy fish stew, and pancakes. Known for not drinking alcohol, Chairman Han was also spotted drinking cola instead of alcohol.
Before the dinner, he said, “This is a place I often visited when I was in Busan,” adding, “I could feel the heart and determination of Busan. We will enjoy the meal and definitely win in the general election.” Notably, the sweatshirt he wore is popular among the younger generation, prominently featuring the phrase '1992' on the front. The year 1992 was the last championship year for the Lotte Giants, a professional baseball team based in Busan, seemingly targeting the baseball-loving sentiment of Busan citizens. Lotte Giants fans say “Eoljuka Giants” (meaning “Giants even if we die”) hoping for the team’s victory. Additionally, Chairman Han was born in 1973 and entered university in 1992, making him part of the class of ’92.
Regarding this, Jang Ye-chan, former Youth Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, interpreted on social media (SNS), “Like the Giants who achieved victory in 1992 with indomitable will, it seems Chairman Han wanted to convey the message to Busan citizens: ‘We can do it too! Let’s regain hope and strength!’” The product ranked first in real-time rankings on the online shopping platform Musinsa that night. The rankings are updated every 30 minutes, reflecting product sales, quantity, views, and reviews.

Meanwhile, Chairman Han’s fashion has consistently been a topic of interest. During his tenure as Minister of Justice, he showed a fashion sense that added points with accessories such as scarves, glasses, belts, and bags to his neat suit attire.
He also drew attention for wearing a tie engraved with ‘Yongbieocheonga,’ the first work written in Hangul during King Sejong’s Joseon Dynasty, at the Ministry of Justice inauguration ceremony in May last year and at the acceptance speech for the Emergency Response Committee Chairman appointment on the 26th of last month.
