Kim Mo (67), who stabbed Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, with a weapon, was handed over to the prosecution on the 10th and said, "Sorry for causing concern."
The police arrested and sent Kim to the prosecution on the same day on charges of attempting to murder Lee by wielding a weapon with the intent to kill.
Before getting into the transport vehicle to move from the detention center of Yeonje Police Station in Busan to the prosecution, Kim responded to reporters asking, "Do you have anything to say to Representative Lee Jae-myung?" with the above statement. When asked, "Why did you write a statement of excuse?" he said, "Please read it and refer to it."
Kim, who resides in Chungnam, stabbed Lee in the left neck with a weapon on the morning of the 2nd at 10:29 a.m. after Lee finished inspecting the Daehang Observatory in Gangseo-gu, Busan, while Lee was walking to his vehicle, and was arrested on the spot.
He was detained on the 4th due to the seriousness of the crime and concerns about the possibility of escape.
Meanwhile, the police plan to announce the comprehensive investigation results of this case in the afternoon of the same day.
