Jin Gyo-hoon, Gangseo District Mayor, "This Year's Policy Keywords: Balanced Development, Safety and Security, Livelihood Economy"

Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo District in Seoul, declared on the 9th, “I will devote all my efforts to creating a greater leap and a new future for Gangseo solely through policies for the residents.”

At the ‘2024 New Year’s Meeting’ held at the Gangseo Residents’ Hall that day, Mayor Jin said, “I will continuously communicate closely with the residents and create a new Gangseo together with them.”

Mayor Jin directly presented last year’s district administration achievements and this year’s key projects to the residents using PowerPoint (PPT).

He identified balanced development, safety and security, and the livelihood economy as the core keywords for this year. These remain the unchanged core goals of the district administration following last year.

He expressed his determination to prioritize residents’ safety, swiftly promote long-awaited projects, and support the livelihood economy weakened by the economic downturn.

Mayor Jin first emphasized, “We will promptly promote the easing of height restrictions, a long-standing resident demand, in cooperation with neighboring local governments, accelerating redevelopment and reconstruction projects to achieve balanced development between the old and new downtown areas.”

He continued, “We will prepare customized maintenance plans tailored to the characteristics of each area and newly establish a Redevelopment and Reconstruction Support Center. We will also take care of semi-industrial areas within the district where residential environment improvement projects are difficult to implement.”

In particular, he said, “We will create a safe school route and secure paths home, fully operate the digital disaster safety control room, and expand closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage to build a more thorough safety infrastructure, making Gangseo a place where everyone can live safely and with peace of mind.”

Mayor Jin stated, “By expanding the issuance of local gift certificates and supporting market development projects, we will coexist with small business owners while building Gangseo’s future new economic axis connecting Gimpo Airport Innovation District, Magok MICE Complex, and the Gayang-dong CJ factory site, transforming it into a sustainable future economic city.”

He also promised to build a care and welfare city where no one is left behind. He said he would establish a welfare safety net to eliminate blind spots in welfare and gradually expand care infrastructure such as Our Neighborhood Care Centers, Seoul-style Kids Cafes, and communal childcare rooms. Additionally, he plans to significantly increase senior citizen jobs by more than 1,000 compared to last year.

He pledged to differentiate local festivals into diverse cultural events and expand residents’ opportunities to enjoy culture, striving to create an educational and cultural city.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “To realize the slogan of the 8th elected term, ‘A Future Added Together, Gangseo Shared Together,’ we will achieve new future development of Gangseo District together with the residents,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that all residents equally enjoy the various district administration achievements and benefits such as balanced development and welfare.”

The New Year’s Meeting was attended by about 1,000 people, including members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, heads of professional organizations, and representatives from various sectors of the community. The event proceeded in the order of ▲ screening of district administration promotional videos ▲ congratulatory performances ▲ New Year’s address by Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon ▲ New Year’s greetings ▲ and seeing off the guests.
