Enforcement against posts violating the Device Distribution Act will also be carried out on C2C platforms such as Danggeun Market and Bungaejangter.

The Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) announced on the 9th that Danggeun Market and Bungaejangter have joined the Online Self-Cleaning Council.

The Online Self-Cleaning Council was launched in June 2020, led by the three major telecommunications companies and KAIT, to create a healthy online telecommunications distribution environment.

The council monitors online posts violating the Device Distribution Act and can propose corrections or deletions to the respective platforms. Its purpose is to eliminate discriminatory practices against users and to guide distributors to comply with the Act.

With Danggeun Market and Bungaejangter confirming their participation in the Online Self-Cleaning Council, voluntary measures against posts violating the Device Distribution Act on C2C platforms will be implemented starting this month. This enables promotional and guidance actions regarding compliance with the Act for mobile phone distributors operating within these platforms.

Shin Ji-young, Head of Operations Policy at Danggeun Market, said, "We will actively cooperate with the Online Self-Cleaning Council to protect users and take the lead in establishing order in device transactions and a healthy C2C platform environment."

Choi Eun-kyung, CRO of Bungaejangter, stated, "By joining the Online Self-Cleaning Council, we will contribute to creating a healthy secondhand trading distribution market where users can trade with confidence."

Han Sung-man, Director of KAIT, which operates the council, said, "We expect that voluntary measures against illegal posts within platforms will reduce unfair and illegal business practices by online stores."
