There Is a Possibility of Increased Collision Risk
Tesla has decided to recall approximately 1.62 million vehicles in China.
According to China Central Television (CCTV) and other sources on the 6th, Tesla submitted a plan containing this information to the State Administration for Market Regulation of China the day before.
The recall targets 1,611,05 vehicles, including Model S, Model X, some imported Model 3s produced between August 26, 2014, and December 20 of last year, as well as Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced in China.
The State Administration for Market Regulation explained that the risk of collision increases. This is because drivers may misuse the Level 2 combined driving assistance function while the automatic steering assist function is active in the recalled vehicles.
Additionally, 7,538 imported Model S and Model X vehicles produced between October 26, 2022, and November 16 of last year are also subject to recall. These vehicles are known to have a possibility of door locks being released in the event of a collision.
Accordingly, Tesla will address the defects in the recalled vehicles through over-the-air (OTA) updates.
