658 Forestry Workers Receive 1.15 Billion Won Payment
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has decided to pay 1.151 billion KRW to 658 recipients of the 2023 Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment Program.
The county paid 1.051 billion KRW to 611 recipients in the first round on December 29 last year, and plans to pay the remaining 47 recipients in the first half of the year as soon as the national subsidy is granted.
Considering the weak promotion during the early implementation of the Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment Program, the county plans to strengthen publicity and continuously expand the number of eligible recipients.
Additionally, from January 22 to February 2, the county will conduct educational sessions on the Public Direct Payment Program for forestry workers at the Agricultural Technology Center, Eup and Myeon offices, and the Residential Agricultural Startup Support Center.
The Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment Program was established by related legislation enacted in 2022 to secure the continuous public functions of forests and to compensate for the low income of forestry workers.
The Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment is divided into direct payments for forest product production and silviculture. The direct payment for forest product production is further divided into small-scale forestry household direct payments and area-based direct payments. Small-scale forestry household direct payments can be up to 1.2 million KRW, while area-based and silviculture direct payments can be up to 36.6 million KRW.
