New Year's Vision Sharing and Harmony Prayer Event on the 4th
District Mayor Ilhyung Lee: "Promoting Strategic Projects for 5 Districts"
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a New Year's greeting event on the 4th at 3 p.m. in the multipurpose auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office to share the vision for the hopeful Gapjin year 2024 and to wish for development and harmony.
On this day, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, along with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, local members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, heads of institutions, and organization leaders attended to deliver messages of hope to the residents.
The event, which opened with a performance by the district youth orchestra's conductor and a congratulatory performance by the district boys and girls choir, proceeded with a video screening of residents' New Year's wishes, the district mayor's New Year's address, congratulatory speeches from guests including the Seoul Mayor, and a celebratory song by the district women's choir. In particular, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon explained the direction of city administration and promised to work together to make Dongdaemun-gu an even more attractive place to live.
In his New Year's address, Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung presented a vision to divide Dongdaemun-gu into five zones and promote strategic projects tailored to the characteristics of each area, aiming for balanced development by zone and advancing toward a smart future city.
The mayor shared the major projects planned for each of the five zones with the residents. ▲Zone 1 (Jegi·Cheongnyangni): creation of the global TOP ‘Cheongnyang Market Mall’ and complex development around Cheongnyangni Station ▲Zone 2 (Jeonnong·Dapsimni): creation of an artificial waterfall at Baebongsan Mountain and operation of the ‘Garden of Knowledge’ on the Jeonnong-dong library site.
Next, ▲Zone 3 (Jangan): complex development of the logistics terminal site in Jangan-dong ▲Zone 4 (Imun·Hwikyung·Hoegi): solid operation of the DDM Youth Startup Center Unicorn ▲Zone 5 (Yongsin): opening of the Fashion Sewing Complex Support Center were introduced as key projects.
He also expressed his determination to steadily advance toward Dongdaemun-gu’s five core goals (▲a warm city walking together ▲a city good for raising children ▲a livable city ▲a smart future city ▲a disaster ZERO safe city).
Finally, Mayor Lee Pil-hyung concluded his New Year's address energetically, saying, “In the 2024 Gapjin year, full of change and newness, Dongdaemun-gu will lead one axis of Seoul’s development centered on Cheongnyangni. The seeds of change toward a safe and sustainable future city have been sown. Together with 340,000 residents, we will make the ‘flower of happiness’ bloom in Dongdaemun-gu.”
