Cultural Heritage Administration Launches New Project with 1.1 Billion Won Budget
The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on the 4th that they will fully support the costs of traditional weddings and first birthday parties for socially disadvantaged individuals who face difficulties in marriage and child-rearing due to economic burdens. Socially disadvantaged individuals refer to those who receive policy and institutional support from the national or local governments based on social and economic criteria.
The newly launched project is designed to realize "Welfare for All," one of the six major strategies for national heritage, and to expand opportunities for socially marginalized groups to enjoy cultural benefits. The budget is approximately 1.1 billion KRW.
The Cultural Heritage Administration will review applicants in the first half of the year to select beneficiaries. They will support 60 traditional weddings and 30 first birthday parties at "Han-guk-ui Jip" (House of Korea) in Jung-gu, Seoul, which has established itself as a traditional cultural complex experience space. An official stated, "The applicant criteria and detailed schedule will be announced on the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation website."
