Added as a standalone menu from the existing 'Media Portal'
First screen for customers preferring partner brands
January partnership with accommodation booking platform 'Tripbitoz'
KT will hold a digital pop-up store every month for the first time in IPTV, partnering with brands in travel, home appliances, fashion, beauty, dining, and more. Based on AI technology, it will identify Genie TV customers who prefer partner brands and offer differentiated benefits.
On the 4th, KT announced the launch of a dedicated section called the 'Genie TV Brand Pop-up Store,' where users can experience products and content from new partner brands every month on Genie TV.
The Genie TV Brand Pop-up Store is provided not offline but through Genie TV’s user interface (UI) called the 'Media Portal.' It appears as a standalone menu alongside the existing Media Portal menus: ▲Movies, TV, VOD ▲OTT Services ▲LIVE Channels ▲Kids Land ▲Genie Apps, five dedicated content sections.
KT customizes the home screen based on viewing history patterns. The Brand Pop-up Store is also shown on the TV home screen to customer groups likely to prefer the respective brand. AI technology is used to recommend customer groups by integrating IPTV usage big data with basic subscriber information such as age, gender, and region. If the pop-up store does not appear on the home screen for some subscribers, they can still access it by entering the Media Portal menu directly.
The Genie TV Pop-up Store is available on the latest Genie TV set-top boxes that support the Media Portal, including models 3, 2, 1, A, and the All-in-One Soundbar, currently serving about 6 million households.
In December last year, KT ran a pilot service by opening a 'Twosome Place' pop-up store during the Christmas season, offering Genie TV customers benefits such as 50% off Americano coffee and 4,000 KRW off cakes. This promotion received responses from 300,000 households during the period.
This month’s partner brand is 'Tripvitoz,' an accommodation reservation platform where users can book about 1 million accommodations worldwide. Visitors to the pop-up store’s dedicated section can book various hotel products from Tripvitoz at discounts of up to 86% off the regular price until the 31st.
KT provides short-form content that stimulates travel desires in addition to promotional information in the pop-up store, tailored to Tripvitoz’s platform characteristics based on video content.
Kim Hun-bae, Head of KT Media Platform Business Division, said, "The 'Pop-up Store,' introduced for the first time in IPTV, is a method of exchanging the media power of Genie TV with the competitive product discounts held by partner companies. This is a new attempt possible only by Genie TV, Korea’s No. 1 IPTV with about 9.5 million subscribers." He added, "We will continue to strive for mutual growth with various cross-industry partners and provide differentiated benefits to customers."
