Dongjak-gu University Student Administrative Intern Regional Development Strategy Formulation?

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 4th that last year, it operated the 'Dongjak University Student Administrative Internship,' the first of its kind among Seoul's autonomous districts, where public officials and university students participated together to explore development directions with the district's 7 major strategies as research topics.

The 'Dongjak University Student Administrative Internship' is part of Dongjak-gu's youth policy model. From September to December last year, seven public official mentors and 34 university student mentees participated, forming teams to select research topics and discover development directions and ideas.

The research topics covered seven major areas of district administration, including economy, daily life, and welfare. The district aims to promote administrative development by devising support measures based on the students' innovative opinions.

The public officials who participated as mentors in the administrative internship were practical workers affiliated with Dongjak-gu at grade 6 or below, and the university students who participated as mentees were enrolled (including on leave) at local universities.

The district formed a total of seven teams of public officials and university students, considering their desired areas of participation and relevance to their majors, and conducted a total of 36 activities including data research and presentation report writing.

During the activity period, the district provided four sessions of education necessary for employment, such as planning skills and research methodology, for the participants.

As a result, the seven teams shared their outcomes at the '1st Dongjak University Student Administrative Internship Presentation and Evaluation Meeting' held at the district office auditorium on the 22nd of last month, selecting one grand prize team, two excellence award teams, and four encouragement award teams.

The grand prize was awarded to the 'Life Team,' which presented on the topic 'One Step to the Han River, Activation Plan for Using Gogu Hill,' while the excellence awards went to the 'Culture Team' for presenting the '1st Dongjak-gu Kkamangnaru Festival (Plan)' and the 'Education Team' for presenting 'Vivid Education for All Generations in Dongjak.'

The grand prize team received high scores by proposing various measures to activate Gogu Hill (Bondon), which has good access to the Han River, as a walkable park.

This year, based on last year's results, the district plans to expand the program and conduct it twice in total during the first and second halves of the year. The number of participants is expected to be up to 50 per session.

Additionally, to help students who participated in the internship succeed in employment, the district plans to provide counseling and educational programs through the 'Noryangjin Youth Job Center' in a one-stop service.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, "The administrative internship will not only strengthen the employment competitiveness of young people but also serve as an opportunity to enhance the core values of district administration," adding, "We will continue to discover practical support measures for youth and realize the 'Dongjak-gu-type youth policy.'"
