Recruitment of Lead Organizations for the 'Technopark Production Equipment Advancement Support Project'

Selection of Around 8 Technoparks
40% Support for Equipment Advancement Costs

On the 4th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it will promote the '2024 Techno Park Production Equipment Advancement Support Project' to resolve technical and commercialization difficulties caused by the lack of production equipment in local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Techno Parks are operators of industrial technology complexes under the 'Industrial Technology Complex Act' and have served as key institutions for fostering local industries and SMEs by implementing government and local government support projects for local SMEs on the ground.

The Techno Park Production Equipment Advancement Support Project is a program that supports the replacement of outdated production equipment owned by Techno Parks or the purchase of new equipment so that local SMEs can use them jointly.

The eligible participants for the project are Techno Parks located outside the metropolitan area. Techno Parks wishing to participate in the project must submit an application form and an equipment advancement plan linked to the region's main industries by February 2nd.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will evaluate each Techno Park's equipment advancement plan based on the 'relevance to the region's main industries,' 'feasibility of the advancement plan,' and 'proactiveness of local and private investment,' selecting about eight Techno Parks as support targets. The ministry plans to support 40% of the costs required for equipment advancement per Techno Park, up to a maximum of 1 billion KRW.

Kim Woo-jung, Director of Regional Enterprise Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "Through the advancement of Techno Park production equipment, we expect to resolve difficulties faced by local SMEs that cannot independently equip themselves and strengthen the function of Techno Parks as regional key institutions." He added, "We urge active participation from Techno Parks and local governments."
