Song Young-gu, director of Gangnam Severance Hospital, announced that he will fulfill the hospital's mission and pioneer the future of the hospital with the sincere dedication of all staff members in the new year of Gapjin.
At the New Year's greeting ceremony held at 9 a.m. on the 3rd in the hospital auditorium, Director Song said, "In 2023, the 40th anniversary of the hospital's opening, we achieved many meaningful accomplishments. We laid the foundation for enhancing research capabilities and technology commercialization through a research agreement with the Weizmann Institute, a world-class basic science research institute. The 'THE Future Development Supporters Association' was launched for hospital development and future medical innovation, and based on the 'Legacy Donation Platform,' the first legacy donation to our hospital was made, which is the first of its kind in the domestic medical community." He expressed his gratitude, saying, "All these achievements are thanks to the sweat and efforts of all staff members working together."
Welcoming the new year, Gangnam Severance Hospital also emphasized the challenges it faces and the determination to resolve them. Director Song identified the main tasks for the Gapjin year as ▲ changes in the medical paradigm due to low birthrate and aging population ▲ strengthening global research capabilities ▲ advancing organizational culture and fostering pride ▲ actively promoting the new hospital construction project ▲ practicing the hospital’s mission of neighborly love, service, sharing, and care.
He also highlighted the importance of research. Director Song stated, "Research is the driving force for future growth and the foundation of education and medical treatment. Starting with the 'Research Strategy Vision Declaration Ceremony' to be held at the end of this month, we will promote the establishment of joint research institutes with world-class research organizations and build a platform that connects original technology development to clinical trials and technology commercialization to strengthen global research capabilities."
Meanwhile, the greeting ceremony was attended by more than 150 key officials and staff members, including Yoon Dong-seop, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Director of Yonsei University Medical Center, Director Song, Lee Woo-seok, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs, Park Hyung-cheon, Deputy Director of Research, and Lee Young-mok, Director of Planning and Management.
