On the 2nd, Samsung Electronics held a kick-off ceremony at Suwon Digital City with the attendance of over 400 executives and employees, marking the start of the new year's work.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman and CEO Han Jong-hee, President and CEO Kyung Kye-hyun, and others. The event proceeded in order with a congratulatory performance by the Samsung Philharmonic, various award ceremonies, a New Year's address, and viewing of a commemorative video. Awards were given under the names 'Samsung Master' and 'Annual Awards.' The Samsung Master is the highest technical expert within the company, and the Annual Awards are given to members who achieved outstanding performance over the past year. Award recipients' families also attended the event.
In a joint New Year's address, Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung urged strengthening fundamental competitiveness based on super-gap technology, securing future change responsiveness such as AI/Eco/Lifestyle Innovation, and building a robust corporate culture, pledging new growth and a leap forward.
Vice Chairman Han emphasized, "Let us prioritize strengthening fundamental competitiveness, including the core value of super-gap technology that has led Samsung Electronics." In particular, the DS Division, which has led semiconductor technology for the past 50 years, was urged to not only widen the gap with competitors but also establish unrivaled competitiveness within the industry. The DX Division was instructed to prioritize quality competitiveness such as perceived performance and emotional quality, fundamentally consider and explore usability from the customer's perspective, and provide differentiated solutions unique to Samsung Electronics.
He added that Samsung Electronics should equip itself with 'future change responsiveness' such as AI, Eco, and Lifestyle Innovation to become a new 'game changer.' Regarding AI innovation, he said, "Let us revolutionize device usage experiences by applying generative AI and actively utilize it in work to drastically change the way we work." He also mentioned that Eco Innovation is becoming the new standard for next-generation devices and requested, "Let us actively discover future eco-friendly products through a fundamental shift in mindset, moving away from past passive environmental responses."
He emphasized Lifestyle Innovation as well, stating that in a period where consumers are changing due to unprecedented demographic and generational shifts, discovering products and services that fit new lifestyles is even more necessary.
He also urged the 'building of a robust corporate culture.' "Leaders should facilitate accurate communication and candid, constructive discussions within the organization so that members can work with authority and responsibility," and "Let us establish a top-tier corporate culture that produces results through self-directed time management." Finally, he said, "Please do not forget that the first promise necessary for the company's development and a better future journey is the practice of compliance and the establishment of a compliance culture."
