Barefoot Walking Clay Road to Be Created at Seonghwangsan This Year-End
Jeonbuk's 3rd 'Hwangtotgil'... Assemblyman Yoon Joon-byeong "Promoting Health Improvement"

Seonghwangsan Mountain, which surrounds the northern part of Jeongeup city in Jeonbuk. By the end of this year, Jeonbuk's third 'Hwangto Trail' will be created here. Recently, 'barefoot walking' for health has gained attention, and this has been one of the projects that Jeongeup citizens have consistently requested. With the inclusion of the Seonghwangsan Barefoot Hwangto Trail project in the '2023 Jeongeup City Second Half Special Grant Project' budget, a healing space within the city will be established in Jeongeup.

Seonghwangsan is located within Jeongeup city, making it highly accessible. Additionally, on the western foothills, there is Chungmugong Park, which consists of Chungnyeolsa Shrine dedicated to Admiral Yi Sun-sin and the Chung-hon Tower honoring the spirits of those who sacrificed during the Korean War, making it an ideal walking course by itself. There are three hiking courses, all equipped with wooden decks for easy hiking, and from the summit, you can see the entire Jeongeup city at a glance.

With the addition of a 'barefoot Hwangto Trail' on Seonghwangsan, it is expected that even more citizens will be able to enjoy various walking experiences.

The 'Jeongeup Seonghwangsan Barefoot Hwangto Trail Construction' project was directly planned and developed by National Assembly member Yoon Joon-byeong (Jeonbuk Jeongeup City·Gochang County) of the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Affairs Committee. He made great efforts to secure the project budget. Member Yoon personally visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, met with officials, and explained the justification and necessity of the project, which led to securing a budget of 400 million KRW.

Jeongeup City plans to create a 3 km-long Hwangto Trail on Seonghwangsan by the end of this year, along with installing foot washing facilities, rest areas, drainage systems, and other amenities.

As of the end of last year, there are two Hwangto Trails in Jeonbuk: Jangsu Banghwadong Recreation Forest and Gochang Wellpark. With the creation of the 'Seonghwangsan Barefoot Hwangto Trail,' it will become the third Hwangto Trail in Jeonbuk.

They are also planning to manage the design phase to include a barefoot walking exercise space at the National Forest Experience Center in Buk-myeon, which is being coordinated with the Korea Forest Service.

Member Yoon Joon-byeong said, "I am very pleased to think that Jeongeup citizens will be able to connect with nature and promote health through the Seonghwangsan Hwangto Trail," and emphasized, "I will continue to do my best to secure budgets to solve local issues in cooperation with Jeongeup City."
