‘Receive the Energy of the Blue Dragon!’... Yangcheon-gu Successfully Hosts the 2024 Yongwangsan Sunrise Festival

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that the '2024 Sunrise Festival' held at Yongwangsan Mountain in the early morning of January 1st, with over 6,000 residents, was successfully conducted.

The festival, held around Yongwangsan Mountain, a famous sunrise spot in the southwestern area, was filled with various programs including ▲ pungmul troupe street parade and popera congratulatory performance ▲ 'Daebuk Tago' wishing for Yangcheon’s hopeful future ▲ sunrise countdown ▲ three cheers of hope ▲ side events (Haewoori and Cheongryong photo zones, tarot card readings, writing New Year's wishes in stylish calligraphy, wish drum beating, etc.).

In particular, the New Year's wish papers containing the sincere hopes of the residents will be displayed in the first-floor lobby of the district office for a week after the sunrise festival ends, and will be used in an event during the Jeongwol Daeboreum festival in February, where they will be burned along with a Daljip (moon house) to drive away bad luck and pray for blessings.

Meanwhile, the district established a safety management plan for safe and orderly festival operation, and deployed safety personnel in each area of the event site to thoroughly prevent accidents caused by crowd congestion.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I am pleased to welcome the New Year of the Blue Dragon with the residents at Yongwangsan Mountain, which holds the legend of the dragon,” and added, “I hope happiness fills every household of Yangcheon residents this year as well, and we will do our best to make Yangcheon-gu leap forward with the vigorous energy of the Blue Dragon.”
