Seokchon Lake Waterfront Stage Performance and Lotte Tower Fireworks Show Kick Off 2024 in Splendor... Enhanced Safety Measures and Joint Inspections for Year-End and New Year Events Focused on Crowded Areas
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 1st that numerous spectators attended the New Year's countdown event, "2024 Songpa-gu Countdown," held on the waterside stage of Seokchon Lake East Lake on the 31st of last month.
Despite the subzero temperatures, beautiful melodies by soprano Lee Myung-yeon and hopeful tunes by the male trio "Samin Sasaek" echoed on stage for the residents gathered to spend the year-end together.
Interviews were conducted with the audience about their reflections on 2023 and their wishes for 2024. Everyone welcomed the New Year together by shouting the countdown in sync with the number count video produced from 60 seconds before the New Year.
In particular, a spectacular fireworks show and a hopeful rainbow laser performance were held at the Songpa-gu tourist attraction, Lotte World Tower, delivering an emotional experience to all attendees.
Celebrating the start of the New Year, the event concluded successfully with a grand and dazzling media drum performance and popera concert, set against the backdrop of people exchanging good wishes and making wishes.
On this day, a blue dragon sculpture was installed on stage to celebrate the Year of the Blue Dragon in 2024, the Gapjin year. This dragon sculpture, filled with the energy of the New Year, will be relocated to the deck near the lake entrance and displayed until February after the countdown event.
The district, in cooperation with Lotte Corporation, conducted a joint pre-inspection focusing on safety-vulnerable areas such as the deck near the event site and the lake bridge. Safety personnel from the Songpa Model Drivers Association and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit were deployed to prepare for any emergencies.
Additionally, in preparation for ongoing year-end and New Year events, safety management measures have been strengthened through the establishment of safety plans and joint inspections with related organizations to prevent accidents. Not only for events with organizers, but also for areas expected to be crowded such as around Jamsil Station, Lotte World, and three popular restaurant alleys in Bangi-dong, on-site inspections were conducted to ensure residents can safely enjoy the year-end and New Year season through proactive management.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "We will continue to establish Songpa-gu as a popular New Year's countdown destination where everyone can enjoy safely," and added, "I wish all residents health and good fortune in the Gapjin New Year."
