Netizens Say "They Need to Fail to Wake Up"
Recently, a case where a pojangmacha in Busan raised prices in real-time as customers flocked in has sparked criticism among netizens.
On the 28th, food creator Ssangddabong posted a short video on his Instagram. The video, filmed at a pojangmacha located in Nampo-dong, Jung-gu, Busan, showed the preparation of tteokbokki, sundae, and fish cakes, with subtitles stating, "On Christmas night, the price was 5,000 won 10 minutes earlier, but after eating, they said it was 6,000 won, which ruined the appetite of those eating."

He explained the situation in writing under the video: "I went out to Nampo-dong, Jung-gu, Busan, with great determination after several years to see the Christmas tree. Even though it was midnight, it was dark and quiet, and the pojangmachas seemed to be closing, which made me uneasy," adding, "Then, while I was ordering and standing at a place selling tteokbokki to enjoy the atmosphere, groups of people started gathering."
He continued, "Everyone seemed to be in the mood of 'Let's enjoy the last snack anyway.' But the pojangmacha owner subtly raised the price while looking around," and "Until a little while ago, it was 5,000 won, but (the owner) whispered 6,000 won, worried that the neighboring shop might hear."
He said, "Upon hearing this, everyone froze and lost their appetite," and "For those who ordered various items to take away, the amount was less than 10,000 won, but they were told it was 18,000 won. I saw that the price kept rising in real-time."
According to creator Ssangddabong, the sundae tteokbokki he ordered (one serving) and two konjac pieces cost 9,000 won, while another person’s order of two servings of tteokbokki and four fish cakes was 18,000 won.
He added, "I was going to film and promote the place, but I ended up capturing something wrong," and "Let's not do this."
Netizens who saw the video shared their own experiences of being overcharged at tourist spots, expressing discomfort. They responded with comments such as, "Let's not buy from them; the biggest weapon consumers have is a boycott," "This is a K-bargain coin," and "They need to go bankrupt to come to their senses."
