A 5-year-old boy fell from the balcony on the 16th floor of an apartment in Daegu and died.


The Dalseong Police Station in Daegu announced on the 30th at 6:07 PM that a 5-year-old boy, A, fell from the 16th floor of an apartment in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, and died. A was found collapsed at the apartment entrance, and a resident who witnessed the scene reported it to the police. The police believe that A climbed onto the window by stepping on a wooden table placed under the balcony railing and then fell. The police explained that the wooden table was 40 cm high, and the balcony railing was 130 cm high.

At the time of the accident, only A and his mother were at home. The police stated, "A's mother testified that she was taking a nap at the time of the accident." A police official said, "So far, there is no suspicion of a crime, and it appears to be a simple accident," but added, "We are investigating with all possibilities open." The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident through statements from neighbors and others, as well as closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

Meanwhile, on the same day in the afternoon, a 5-year-old child who was home alone in Ulsan died in a fire.


The fire occurred at around 5:05 PM on the 2nd floor of a villa building in Nam-gu, Ulsan, resulting in the death of a 5-year-old boy who was alone in a studio apartment. The deceased child was found trapped under the debris of the extinguished building. It was investigated that the child's father was briefly away from home at the time of the fire.


The fire burned the studio apartment on the 2nd floor completely and was extinguished at around 5:30 PM, 25 minutes later. Due to the fire, one female resident of the building and the male building owner sustained minor injuries, and some tenants reportedly evacuated on their own.


The police and fire authorities believe the fire started in the studio apartment on the 2nd floor and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
