Seocho-gu, 13.7 Billion KRW Incentives from This Year's Public Contest Projects and More

Seocho-gu, 13.7 Billion KRW Incentives from This Year's Public Contest Projects and More

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 29th that it has been recognized for 67 achievements in various external evaluations and public contests this year, securing incentives worth 13.7 billion KRW. These incentives are secured separately from the budget through participation in public contests and are used for district administration.

Major projects selected in public contests include ▲Public Building Green Remodeling Project (1.2 billion KRW) ▲Seoul-style Kids Cafe Space Selection (1.7 billion KRW) ▲Digital Twin National Land Pilot Project (1.4 billion KRW), among others.

Externally, Seocho-gu achieved a triple crown for the first time in a single year by winning the ‘Green Apple Awards’ hosted by a UK-based environmental non-profit organization for seven consecutive years. The awards included ▲Gold Prize for the Yangjaecheon Restoration Project in the sustainability category ▲Silver Prize for the Truly Good Seocho Coin in the carbon reduction category ▲Bronze Prize for the Toy Repair Center in the resource recycling category, highlighting the district’s eco-friendly policies.

This year, Seocho-gu won the grand prize at the ‘2023 Digital Local Government Best Practice Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The reopening of the ‘Smart OK Civil Service Center’ in July, which incorporated digital technology, and the ‘nation’s first electronic civil service form creation system using QR codes’ were highly praised for providing customized civil services suited to the digital environment and implementing an intuitive system that anyone can easily use, according to Seocho-gu.

The ‘Seocho Coin System’ realized good values in various fields such as carbon neutrality practice, protection of socially vulnerable groups, environment, welfare, and education through ‘Good Points.’ Coins accumulated through this project can be used for payments or donations at public facilities and about 400 Seocho Carbon Zero Shops. In September, it received the grand prize in the smart administration category at the ‘Korea Local Government Administration Awards.’

Mayor Jeon Seong-su of Seocho-gu said, “This achievement is the result of the joint efforts of Seocho residents and over 1,600 Seocho colleagues,” adding, “Next year, we will continue to implement life administration that residents can feel and create ‘Seocho where you are happy today and look forward to tomorrow.’”
