The Korea Exchange held the '2023 Securities and Derivatives Market Closing Ceremony' at 3 p.m. on the 28th, the final trading day of the 2023 securities and derivatives market, at the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC).

More than 50 guests, including representatives from financial institutions and citizens, attended the closing ceremony to commend the efforts made throughout the year and to wish for the development of the capital market in the new year.
Son Byung-doo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, said in his congratulatory speech at the closing ceremony, "This year, our capital market has made every effort to wisely overcome crises amid a slow recovery of the global economy," adding, "The Exchange will continue to do its best for the greater development of the capital market."
Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, in a video congratulatory message, evaluated, "Despite the economic crisis, the Korea Exchange shone as it helped the growth of our companies and revitalized the real economy," and stated, "Busan City is preparing various financial policies and industry promotion measures in 2024, the 15th anniversary of Busan's designation as a financial hub."
Kim So-young, Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, also said in a video congratulatory message, "Despite many adversities and uncertainties this year, our market recovered its upward trend at the end of the year, confirming the resilience of our market," and added, "The Financial Services Commission continues to strive for innovation support, creating an investor-friendly environment, and establishing market order."
The 2024 Securities and Derivatives Market Opening Ceremony will be held on the 2nd of next month at the Korea Exchange Seoul office. Due to the opening ceremony, regular market trading on that day will start one hour later than usual at 10 a.m., while the closing time remains the same as current.
