Contribution to Regional Development and Foundation for Peaceful Unification through Active Participation as a Standing Member of the Democratic Peace Advisory Council
Professor Kim Hee-eun of the Department of Physical Education at Dong-Eui University was selected as a '2023 Contributor to the Foundation for Free Democratic Peaceful Unification' and received the Order of Civil Merit, Pomegranate Medal, at the award ceremony held on the 27th in the meeting room of the National Unification Advisory Council.
Since 2011, Professor Kim Hee-eun has served as an advisory member of the National Unification Advisory Council, president of the Haeundae District Council in Busan, and a standing committee member. She was recognized for her dedicated patriotism and awareness of unification, actively leading regional development and the foundation for peaceful unification, which led to her selection as an awardee.
In particular, Professor Kim actively engaged in cultural exchange activities, including hosting performances in Busan by North Korean dance troupes and art groups of North Korean defectors, as well as operating various programs supporting their activities.
Professor Kim Hee-eun stated, “I will strive to widely spread the aspirations and values for unification,” adding, “Especially through various activities that elicit unification empathy among the younger generation, I will do my best to ensure that the spirit of free democratic peaceful unification is enjoyed by all social strata.”
