The '2023 Fisheries Night' was hosted by the Korea Maritime and Ocean University Fisheries Processing Research Center (Director Jeon Byung-su) and the LINC3.0 Project Group (Director Ryu Ji-yeol), and organized by the 11th Alumni Association of the Fisheries Industry Expert Course.

About 150 people attended the event, including Kim Byung-gi, Director of the Busan City Marine Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau, Kim Young-bok, Vice President of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and alumni of the Fisheries Industry Expert Course, fostering human exchange and technology-based networks between industry and academia.

The Fisheries Industry Expert Course is a program designed to transfer advanced fisheries technology and trends to local fisheries processing business owners and workers to secure the competitiveness of Busan's fisheries industry. Since its establishment in 2012 by the Fisheries Processing Research Center of Korea Maritime and Ocean University under the commission of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan City, it has produced a total of about 360 fisheries professionals, including 34 this year.

At this event, information on the current status and future prospects of the fisheries industry was shared through seminars such as ▲2024 Fisheries Policy Guide ▲The Meaning and Development Direction of the Shift from Seafood to Blue Food ▲Fisheries Technology Tree and Roadmap, and information on industry trends was provided through product exhibitions and promotions by alumni of the Fisheries Industry Expert Course.

Jeon Byung-su, Director of the Fisheries Processing Research Center, said, “Even after the Fisheries Industry Expert Course education, networking events for exchange and cooperation will not only establish a continuous human resource base among local governments, universities, and industries but are also expected to provide opportunities for win-win growth that contribute to securing momentum for next year’s industry-academia cooperation programs, building mid- to long-term partnerships, strengthening mutual cooperation between industry and academia, and revitalizing the local economy.”
