Creating a Safe and Hygienic Sales Environment
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam conducted a comprehensive inspection and simultaneous maintenance of the Green Food Zone designation signs to create a safe food sales environment around schools.
The Green Food Zone refers to an area within 200 meters from the school and its boundary lines. The designation signs for the Green Food Zone are required to be installed near the school’s main and back gates, as well as on roads leading to the school.
Currently, Changwon City designates and manages 94 Green Food Zones across 232 schools, with 288 signs installed.
Through this simultaneous maintenance, 33 signs that were found to be missing or damaged among the existing signs were replaced, and 14 signs were removed.
Lee Jong-min, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, stated, “We hope that the comprehensive maintenance of the Green Food Zone signs will raise awareness among all citizens passing through these areas about the safety of children’s food. We will continue to inspect the distribution and sale of food within the Green Food Zones to create a safe and healthy food environment for children.”
