Evaluation of Policy Achievements Including Activation of Specialized Projects to Improve Self-Reliance Conditions and Self-Support Capabilities for Working Poor...The Only Selected District Among 25 Autonomous Districts in Seoul Awarded the 'Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation'
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it has been selected as an "Excellent Local Government" in the institutional award evaluation conducted under the "2023 Excellent Local Governments and Meritorious Persons in the Self-Support Field Award Plan" organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The selection of the "2023 Excellent Local Governments in the Self-Support Field" was conducted nationwide targeting local governments. A total of 22 local governments were selected by an evaluation committee composed of private experts who assessed policy achievements such as the activation of specialized projects to create self-reliance conditions and enhance self-support capabilities for the working poor. Eunpyeong-gu was the only one selected among the 25 districts of Seoul and received the "Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation."
Eunpyeong-gu received high scores for its proactive discovery and operation of self-support jobs. Through self-support project implementing agencies such as the Seoul Eunpyeong Regional Self-Support Center, about 240 people were placed, and about 170 people were placed through direct implementation by the district or cooperation with social welfare facilities in the district, providing about 500 self-support jobs monthly.
In addition, specialized projects such as support for certification acquisition training fees and cultural sharing points have been promoted to provide psychological stability and relieve economic burdens for participants in self-support projects.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "Following the '2023 Self-Support Meritorious Person Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation' awarded to an individual in charge of self-support last November, Eunpyeong-gu has achieved the result of being selected as an excellent local government this time. This is the result created by the interest and support of various self-support project implementing agencies including the Eunpyeong Regional Self-Support Center and the residents. We will further devote ourselves to promoting self-reliance and self-support support projects for low-income residents to create a well-living Eunpyeong together."
