YouTubers Who Sprayed Water on the Road and Froze It, Causing 6 People to Fall
"No Apology Was Given... Filed a Complaint Out of Resentment"
A YouTuber caused controversy after a story surfaced that a citizen was injured after slipping and falling because the YouTuber sprayed water on the street to film a hidden camera prank and froze it.
On the 28th, a post titled "Someone almost died because of a YouTube hidden camera prank" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, stated, "My wife slipped on an icy asphalt road while going to work last Saturday morning (the 23rd), injuring her ankle and sustaining bruises." Due to the accident, Mr. A's wife was taken to the emergency room, had a cast put on her leg, and had to stay home without going out for several days.
Mr. A said, "I thought it was just a simple accident caused by carelessness or lack of caution, but yesterday the police contacted me," adding, "The police who came with 119 said, 'It seems someone deliberately sprayed water.'" He also mentioned that a total of six people, including his wife, fell at the scene.
Mr. A added, "They said, 'It was a joke, we never thought anyone would actually fall, and when it froze into ice, we poured hot water to melt it, but it didn't melt,'" and said, "They didn't even apologize, and their attitude was so infuriating that I took a day off today, got a medical certificate, and filed a complaint."
Netizens who saw the post responded with comments such as, "What if someone had been seriously injured because of such a prank?", "This is nothing but a nuisance," "What if an elderly person had been hurt?", and "There are too many YouTubers causing trouble these days."
Meanwhile, this is not the first time a YouTuber has caused trouble under the pretext of filming hidden camera content. In January 2020, when the damage caused by COVID-19 was severe, a YouTuber was criticized for filming a hidden camera prank related to COVID-19 on the Busan subway, saying, "I have COVID, so everyone stay away from me."
Similar incidents have also occurred overseas, where a YouTuber filming hidden camera videos was shot. Last April, a YouTuber filming hidden camera content at a shopping mall in Virginia, USA, was shot and collapsed. The YouTuber was filming videos capturing the reactions of strangers after performing absurd actions in front of them, and it is reported that a passerby angry at the filming shot him.
