Online Mall Product Information Monitoring Automation System
Correction of Packaging Product Information Errors Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Pulmuone is introducing an automated monitoring system considering the characteristics of the food industry, where product information changes due to environmental factors such as raw material supply. The artificial intelligence (AI) detects and corrects discrepancies between the product information printed on the packaging and the actual information. Pulmuone plans to fulfill consumers' "right to know" by providing accurate information. This system will be proactively introduced on its own online mall.
Pulmuone employees are analyzing product information on online malls using the 'Online Mall Product Information Monitoring Automation System' developed in-house.
On the 28th, Pulmuone announced that it has developed and introduced an 'Online Mall Product Information Monitoring Automation System.' This system is a real-time management framework where AI compares and verifies detailed product information listed on the online mall, such as product name, net weight, food type, expiration date, packaging material, nutritional information, and item report number. Through this system, Pulmuone aims to enhance consumers' "right to safety" and "right to know (the right to receive information)" by providing more accurate information.
The Online Mall Product Information Monitoring Automation System incorporates core technologies such as Pulmuone’s self-developed integrated regulatory management system (PRIS) platform aligned with the company-wide DX strategy, optical character recognition (OCR), and robotic process automation (RPA). Monitoring combines RPA and OCR with AI technologies like machine learning (M/L) to analyze unstructured data such as product information images posted on the online mall, extract text, and then compare it with the correct data uploaded in PRIS to determine consistency. The analysis results can be checked in real-time via PRIS.
The food industry has faced difficulties in providing accurate information because product details on online malls can frequently change due to various environmental factors. After the initial product launch, when existing products are renewed or unavoidable issues arise in raw material supply, detailed product labeling must be updated and strictly managed. However, there have been practical challenges in management, such as delays in immediate reflection on vast online sales sites, leading to cases where consumers find it difficult to recognize accurate product information.
Moreover, online mall product information is usually presented in the form of product images, requiring manual verification and comparison of the information written in the images, which takes a long time and carries the risk of human error.
A Pulmuone official said, "We expect that the newly introduced system will fundamentally eliminate risks caused by errors in product information," adding, "By automatically comparing and reviewing product information with the content designed on the product packaging, we can quickly identify risk factors such as unupdated labeling, thereby preventing regulatory issues in advance and improving work efficiency."
Pulmuone will first introduce the Online Mall Product Information Monitoring Automation System on its integrated brand shopping platform, ‘#Pulmuone.’ Next year, it plans to expand the application to external online channels.
