December 28 Announcement of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment Redevelopment Zone Designation and Redevelopment Plan Decision... Seongsan Siyoung Apartment to Rebirth as Gangbuk's Largest Luxury Residential Complex with up to 40 Floors and 4,823 Units
The designation of the housing reconstruction maintenance zone and the maintenance plan for Seongsan Siyoung Apartment in Mapo-gu, which approaches 4,000 households, was finally decided and announced on the 28th.
With this, Seongsan Siyoung Apartment, which was completed 37 years ago this year, will proceed with the full-scale reconstruction project to create a large-scale housing complex with up to 40 floors and a total of 4,823 households (including 516 public housing units).
For this announcement, Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su, hereinafter referred to as the ‘district’) reflected the revised opinions on the 'Seongsan Siyoung Apartment Reconstruction Maintenance Plan,' which was amended and approved by the Seoul City Urban Planning Committee last October, and conducted a 30-day resident re-inspection.
The final plan included the ‘partial reduction of the semi-circular park next to Bulgwangcheon Stream’ and the ‘creation of a connecting green space linked to the Metasequoia walkway next to Seongjung-gil,’ and was submitted to Seoul City on December 15. Seoul City announced the 'designation of the maintenance zone and decision on the maintenance plan' according to the final plan on December 28.
The district expects the reconstruction project to proceed smoothly, as residents’ expectations and enthusiasm for reconstruction have been high due to outdated facilities and equipment and severe parking difficulties.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “I hope that the reconstruction of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment, a long-cherished project of local residents, will proceed swiftly and transform into the largest prestigious residential complex in Gangbuk. The district will also spare no administrative support.”
He added, “In the 8th term of the elected administration, our district will do its best to create a better Mapo by promptly promoting redevelopment and reconstruction, as well as improving residents’ living environments and housing stability.”
Meanwhile, Seongsan Siyoung Apartment complex, which passed the first hurdle of reconstruction by receiving a D grade (conditional reconstruction) in the detailed safety inspection in May 2020, plans to proceed with the remaining procedures such as forming a reconstruction promotion committee, establishing a union, and obtaining project implementation approval.
