Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City has published a 'Korean Cooking Recipe Book for Multicultural Families' written in four languages: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
This book was produced as part of the 'Cooking Kong, Culinary Kong Korean Cooking Challenge' program conducted by the Gwangju Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Foundation to address lifelong learning blind spots. It was created to share this year's achievements made by instructor Kim Jeong-im, designated as a Korean Cuisine Artisan by the Royal Cuisine Foundation, together with multicultural family trainees, with the local residents.
Specifically, the book includes recipes for 11 Korean dishes that are easy to follow and help improve healthy eating habits, as well as the basic Korean sauces (soy sauce, doenjang, gochujang) that form the foundation of Korean cuisine, all presented in four languages.
Dong-gu expects that the publication of this recipe book, containing the native languages of multicultural family trainees, will contribute to promoting healthy family meals and fostering happy and stable family lives.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, stated, "We hope that the publication of the Korean Cooking Recipe Book for Multicultural Families will serve as a catalyst for a mature society that respects cultural diversity among each other," and added, "We will continue to provide wholehearted support so that all residents can enjoy learning opportunities without discrimination or boundaries in education, culture, and leisure."
