Three Suspects Caught Stealing Goods Worth 400 Million Won from Old Apartments

On the 27th, the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station announced that they had applied for arrest warrants for two men in their 40s, including Mr. A, on charges of special theft, and for Mr. B, who was involved in disposing of stolen goods and fleeing.

According to the police, from the 11th to the 19th, they are suspected of breaking into older apartments in Gangnam-gu, Yongsan-gu, and Gwangjin-gu in Seoul by prying open entrance doors and stealing cash and precious metals worth about 400 million won.

Police investigations revealed that they targeted older apartments in Seoul with weak security. One member would ring the doorbell to confirm the house was empty, then break the entrance door and enter to steal valuables. So far, a total of nine households have been confirmed as victims.

The police first arrested one suspect in Gangwon Province on the morning of the 24th, then arrested two others who were hiding in a motel in Incheon on the same day.

The police plan to investigate additional damages and strengthen patrol activities to prevent theft. A police official said, "Please strengthen security by installing additional locks on entrance doors or emergency exits, and report immediately if any signs of damage are found."
