Practicing ESG Management through Sock Donations to Community Welfare Facilities
National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced on the 27th that the ‘MNU Santa Expedition Team’ delivered a total of 1,356 pairs of socks to three welfare facilities in Mokpo City, Muan County, and other areas on the 22nd to celebrate the end of the year.
The ‘MNU Santa Expedition Team’ at National Mokpo University was planned by the Social Service Center and MNU Social Service Student Group, and from the 29th of last month to the 19th of this month, they conducted a 21-day donation campaign aiming to collect 1,225 pairs of socks (625 pairs for children, and 300 pairs each for adult women and men).

The MNU Santa Expedition Team widely promoted the campaign through SNS so that not only enrolled students and faculty but also residents from other regions or those unable to visit the school could participate in the donation via courier or gifticon. As a result, it became a meaningful sharing event where they received 1,356 pairs of socks, exceeding the target amount.
A representative from one of the donated welfare facilities said, “Since there are many families in the facility, purchasing socks every time is not an easy task. Although I saw the MNU Santa Expedition Team’s promotional video on SNS, I never imagined that these socks would be donated to our facility,” and added, “It is very surprising and we are grateful.”
Community social contribution activities are essential elements for the sustainable development and prosperity of the local community. This event was organized so that students could take an interest in local community issues and seek solutions together through the National Mokpo University ‘MNU Santa Expedition Team.’
A Mokpo University official expressed their aspiration, saying, “We will plan broad and diverse programs next year as well to have a positive impact on the local community.”
The donation status and delivery process of the ‘MNU Santa Expedition Team’ were shared through Instagram and videos. For inquiries related to sock donations, please contact the Student Support Division or the Social Service Center.
