The world's first Interpol Purple Notice has been issued in the field of industrial property rights.

Interpol Purple Notice Issued for Los Product Counterfeit Seller... First Case of Industrial Property Rights

The Purple Notice is one of the eight types of notices issued by Interpol and is issued when member countries want to share new criminal methods to prevent similar transnational crimes. This is the first time a Purple Notice has been issued in the field of industrial property rights.

This Purple Notice includes information on new criminal methods related to design infringement and product shape imitation, including the disguised sale of 'Ross' products. Ross products are items that brand companies produce in excess through commissioned manufacturers without attaching trademarks to prepare for defects. The notice includes cases where counterfeit products made from different fabrics were disguised as Ross products and sold for higher profits compared to ordinary counterfeit goods.

Meanwhile, among the approximately 1,240 Purple Notices issued since 2011, 21 have been requested and issued by South Korea, including this case: 8 drug-related cases, 3 telephone financial fraud cases, 3 maritime kidnapping cases, 1 special theft case, 1 firearm manufacturing case, 1 illegal immigration case, 1 cultural heritage smuggling case, 1 industrial technology leakage case, and 1 NFT fraud case.

An official from the National Police Agency said, "With the issuance of this Purple Notice, we expect to prevent the production and distribution of counterfeit goods that cause significant damage to companies and improve global citizens' awareness of counterfeit products." He added, "The National Police Agency will continue to mobilize all its capabilities, including Interpol and police attach?s, to contribute to the prevention of international crimes."
