Gyeonggi Education Top 10 News: 2nd Place is 'Customized Gyeonggi Shared Schools'... What is 1st Place? Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education

The number one top 10 news item selected by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education this year was "Protection of Teachers' Rights."

The Office of Education selected the top 10 news items by having staff from 25 educational support offices in the province and reporters covering the Office of Education choose three major policies from items selected through a social network service (SNS) survey conducted over four days starting November 20.

Looking at the selected top 10 Gyeonggi education news, education policies closely related to major social issues such as policies for protecting teachers' rights, regionally customized Gyeonggi Shared Schools, Gyeonggi-style IB education, and elementary school responsibility care ranked high.

The first place was "Protection of Educational Activities," which accounted for 21% of the total survey responses. The Office of Education has held meetings and public hearings to fully gather opinions related to the protection of teachers' rights. Through policies such as regional Gyeonggi Teachers' Rights Protection Support Centers, establishment of an educational activity infringement hotline, SOS! Gyeonggi Education Legal Support Group, and submission of the superintendent's opinion letter on child abuse reporting response education, a foundation has been built to guarantee teachers' safe educational activities.

The second place was "Regionally Customized Gyeonggi Shared Schools," accounting for 12% of total respondents.

Gyeonggi Shared Schools are out-of-school learning platforms that utilize local experts and educational resources to realize personalized education for individual students. This year, pilot programs were operated mainly in six pilot educational support offices. Next year, the program will be expanded to all cities and counties, aiming to provide broader and deeper learning opportunities to all students.

Other selected items included ▲Elementary Responsibility Care (10.5%) ▲IB Program (9.2%) ▲Smart Work (8.2%) ▲Operation of Educational Support Office Reconciliation Mediation Teams (8.0%) ▲Pilot operation of AI-based teaching and learning platform Hi-Learning ▲Gyeonggi Future Curriculum (7.8%) ▲Establishment of School Work Improvement Officer (3.8%) ▲School Space Creation (3.5%).

Lee Gil-ho, Director of Public Relations Planning at the Office of Education, said, "This year, Gyeonggi education has done its best to help all students develop character and competencies and realize their dreams according to the principles of autonomy, balance, and future." He promised, "In the new year, we will work with members of Gyeonggi education to promote better policies and leap toward a new future education."
