Welcome to the Agreement for the Eodeungsan Tourist Complex Development Project
Park Byung-kyu, Mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, expressed his welcome on the 22nd regarding Gwangju City's signing of an agreement with Shinsegae Property for the development project of Eodeungsan Tourist Complex.
Mayor Park said, “The long-awaited project for Gwangsan and the citizens of Gwangju, which they have anticipated and waited for 18 years, the Eodeungsan Tourist Complex development project, has finally been put on the right track,” adding, “Today’s agreement is the best year-end and Christmas gift for the citizens who have worked hard throughout this year.”
According to the agreement, Shinsegae Property will promote the creation of ‘Grand Starfield,’ a 417,531㎡ (126,000 pyeong) scale stay-type complex tourist complex in Eodeungsan that combines shopping, culture, leisure, entertainment, and relaxation.
Mayor Park emphasized, “Since it took a long time, the Eodeungsan Tourist Complex project must succeed,” and added, “It should be promoted in a way that revitalizes the entire region and provides tangible benefits such as job creation.”
He especially expressed expectations, saying, “With the largest Starfield in Korea established in Eodeungsan, not only Gwangju and Jeonnam but the whole country and the world will visit, bringing unprecedented economic effects.”
Finally, he stated, “Gwangsan District will take the lead to make the new Gwangju, which will open in Eodeungsan, ‘Shinsegae,’ a ‘national representative landmark’ that citizens dream of, desire, and benefit from,” and added, “We will join hands with Gwangju City, Shinsegae Property, citizens, and small business owners to devote all our efforts to the success of the project.”
