Sunchang-gun Selected as 'Excellent Institution' in Local Stream Maintenance Evaluation

At the end of the year, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk, continues to receive news of being selected as an excellent institution in evaluations across various fields.

The county recently announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the '2023 Local River Maintenance Evaluation' hosted by Jeollabuk-do.

This evaluation, conducted on 14 cities and counties within the province, was carried out twice in spring and autumn through self-assessments and maintenance evaluations, covering overall local river management including embankment, revetment, riverbed maintenance, movable weir management, and crackdowns on illegal activities within rivers.

The award was granted in recognition of the county’s contribution to disaster prevention by investing a total of 2.9 billion KRW in 24 local river sites, and its focused investment in riverbed dredging projects to remove underbrush, sediment, and floating materials that obstruct water flow, demonstrating strong efforts in river environment management.

The county significantly contributed to this excellent institution selection by securing flow cross-sections through riverbed dredging of Gyeongcheon and Churyeongcheon and being recognized for excellence in river landscape maintenance.
