Domestic virtual asset exchange Bithumb announced on the 22nd that it will implement a strengthened investor protection program in celebration of its 10th anniversary.
Bithumb plans to help investors make safer and wiser investment decisions by providing information on the current status of virtual assets supported for trading. By clicking on the virtual asset they want to check and selecting the information tab, users can see real-time updates on the internal circulation volume within Bithumb exchange, net deposit amounts, and virtual asset trading volumes for each asset.
Additionally, the number of Bithumb members holding the respective virtual asset is displayed, along with the top ten holders and top ten traders of that asset and their respective shares in the asset’s trading volume.
In June, Bithumb also launched the social trading service Bithumb 'Insight,' which analyzes members’ investment data and provides real-time investment pattern information, demonstrating its efforts to enhance investor convenience.
Furthermore, Bithumb will establish and implement clearer policies for handling investor damage compensation and expand communication channels with investors. The compensation process applies to cases where investors are unable to place orders due to Bithumb system failures, covering submissions received from the time the failure occurs until midnight on the 10th day thereafter. Customers who suffered damages can submit evidence such as screenshots or videos proving their orders and the system failure, along with information like the failure occurrence time and order numbers, through Bithumb chat support or phone consultation. Compensation amounts will be calculated based on the submitted materials, and the results will be notified within one month of submission.
Moreover, Bithumb is building a higher level of internal security control processes and a strengthened technology-based control environment. Through a bug bounty program aimed at improving service security vulnerabilities, it proactively responds to prevent incidents and strives to ensure safe trading and a healthy market by reinforcing its personal information management organization and system.
Lee Jae-won, CEO of Bithumb, stated, "We prioritize investor protection when creating the exchange’s policies and standards," adding, "We will continue to make efforts for a healthy and sound virtual asset investment ecosystem."
